Diciembre ya está aquí, y sea que ya tengamos planeadas y reservadas nuestras vacaciones, si viajamos con niños hay muchos temas a tener en cuenta:

Viajes en auto:

Además de las posibilidades de mareo, hay que tener en cuenta la cantidad de horas que tienen que estar quietos. Si el viaje dura más de cuatro horas, es importante localizar paradas estratégicas en donde puedan parar a estirar las piernas, utilizar los sanitarios, comprar alguna golosina para que se entretengan.

Yo aconsejo que en ninguno de los casos tomen bebidas lácteas antes de comenzar el viaje: algo más liviano como un jugo ó simplemente agua. Sí comida, pero no lácteos.

Juegos: la opción de las películas ó tablets siempre es viable, pero también sirven los tradicionales juegos de viaje: Elegir una marca de auto ó color e ir contando cada uno, ó que uno piense un animal y el resto tiene que adivinar quién es sólo con preguntas de sí ó no. (este sirve para cualquier tipo de viaje: avión, colectivo, tren....).

Botella de agua y la posibilidad de que estén cómodos al menos para apoyar la cabeza y dormir, para no preguntar cada dos minutos el consabido "Cuánto falta?"

Viajes en avión:

Si se viaja al exterior tener en cuenta el papeleo necesario si uno de los padre no viaja: autorización para salir del país, etc.

La mayoría de las aerolíneas cuentan con pantallas para entretener a los más pequeños y sino ofrecen cuadernitos con actividades para pasar el rato.

Aunque ellos quieran levantarse y caminar por los pasillo ó ir al toilette cada media hora, hay que tener en cuenta que las flight attendant no van a estar muy felices y por su seguridad deben permanecer sentados...con el cinturón de seguridad ajustado.

La seguridad al llegar a destino es fundamental. He visto padre que llevan a los niños como con una correa de perro y hay veces que me pareció que sería muy útil... es excesivo para mí, pero tomarlos de la mano, indicarles siempre y por las dudas un lugar de encuentro fácil e identificable por si se llegan a soltar ó perderse. A partir de los 4, 5 años es algo que pueden entender. No hablar con extraños pero saber su nombre completo y el de sus padres por si un policía se lo pregunta.

Alojamiento: tanto si es en hotel/hostería, cabaña ó bungalow, departamento ó appart, hay que pensar en el entretenimiento de los más pequeños. A partir de los 5, 6 años la opción de campamento es totalmente viable y entretenido para ellos. Si se elige la opción tradicional de alojamiento, hay que tener en cuenta la cercanía con el pueblo ó ciudad por cualquier contratiempo; fácil acceso.

Los juegos de mesa, las hamacas y toboganes al aire libre siempre son un seguro contra aburrimiento. Si el lugar cuenta con personal que atienda a los niños, aún mejor. Sino hay otros que al menos cuentan con mesas de pool, ping pong, canchas de tenies, bolos...

Yo siempre llevo un juego de cartas españolas a mano, en el peor de los casos una partida de Casita robada puede salvar una tarde lluviosa.

Cuando alquilamos habitaciones en hotel, siempre asegurarse de que las habitaciones sean unidas ó al menos contiguas.

Consideraciones Generales:

-Llevar siempre en el bolso Protector Solar y Repelente para mosquitos.

-Un Mini botiquín con cuestiones esenciales (Ibuprofeno pediátrico ó Paracetamol, curitas, algo para los vómitos, Merthiolate ó similar, Caladryl ó similar). Esto nos salva de cualquier situación, si no es real al menos sabemos que estamos preparadas.

-Aunque se viaje a un lugar cálido nunca está de más llevar un abrigo, por las dudas.

-Si se hacen caminatas, tener en cuenta el agua y algo para picar en el camino.

December is already here, and whether we have planned and reserved our vacations, if we travel with children there are many issues to consider:

Travel by car:

Air travel:

If traveling abroad, take into account the necessary paperwork if one of the parents does not travel: authorization to leave the country, etc.

Most airlines have screens to entertain the little ones and, if not, offer notebooks with activities to pass the time.

Although they want to get up and walk down the corridor or go to the toilet every half hour, we must bear in mind that the flight attendant will not be very happy and for their safety they must remain seated ... with the safety belt adjusted.

The security when arriving at destination is fundamental. I have seen a father carrying children like a dog leash and there are times when I thought it would be very useful ... it is too much for me, but to hold them by the hand, to always and in any case indicate an easy meeting place identifiable in case they become loose or lost. After 4, 5 years is something they can understand. Do not talk to strangers but know your full name and that of your parents in case a policeman asks you.

Accommodation: whether it is in hotel / hostelry, cabin or bungalow, apartment or appart, you have to think about the entertainment of the little ones. After 5, 6 years the option of camping is totally viable and entertaining for them. If you choose the traditional option of accommodation, you must take into account the proximity to the town or city for any setback; easy access.

Table games, hammocks and outdoor slides are always safe against boredom. If the place has staff that cares for the children, even better. But there are others who at least have pool tables, ping pong, tenies, bowling ...

I always carry a set of Spanish cards by hand, in the worst case a game of stolen Casita can save a rainy afternoon.

When renting rooms in hotel, always make sure that the rooms are joined or at least contiguous.

General considerations:

- Always carry in the Sunscreen and Mosquito Repellent bag.

-A Mini kit with essential questions (Pediatric ibuprofen or Paracetamol, Band-Aids, something for vomiting, Merthiolate or similar, Caladryl or similar). This saves us from any situation, if it is not real at least we know that we are prepared.

-Although you travel to a warm place it never hurts to take a coat, just in case.

-If you take walks, keep in mind the water and something to nibble on the way.

Un día para disfrutar completo/ A full day to enjoy

Aquópolis

Todos los veranos vamos unos días a la Costa Argentina, más precisamente a Playa Chapadmalal; y más allá de que disfrutamos de la playa, la arena y el mar; invariablemente vamos a pasar un día completo a Aquópolis.

Este lugar queda a medio camino entre Chapadmalal y Mar del Plata, saliendo por Avenida Edison a unos 4 kilómetros de la ciudad; enfrente al Camping El Griego.

Es un predio enorme, muy bien parquizado y cuidado. Desde su apertura cada año que pasa van incorporando más toboganes y juegos para todas las edades.

Hay dos zonas de piletas bajitas con toboganes cortitos y juegos de agua para los más niños, una tipo Barco Pirata que a los pequeños les encanta. La otra, más grande con animales acuáticos y un gran balde que refresca a mayores y niños por igual.

Los toboganes que son más altos tienen restricciones por altura que los empleados que supervisan cumplen. Algunos son para tirarse solos, y otros más "livianos" son gomones de a dos. La Ola por ejemplo es cortito y muy divertido para tirarse un adulto y un menor. 

Lo único malo de los toboganes más altos es que hay que subir la escalera, y llevando cada uno su propio gomón ó flotador. En días de temporada alta el lugar se llena y las colas para que te den los inflables son largas.

Para los más audaces hay toboganes que cortan la respiración. El Poseidón, ó las Cápsulas son para osados. Las alturas son impresionantes y hay que llegar allá arriba, para tirarse.

En todos los toboganes hay empleados que supervisan que se cumpla con la altura correspondiente para tirarse, y que se sepa nadar en los que es necesario porque tienen pileta al final del recorrido (como en el Tifón).

Hay varias zonas para hacer Picnic. Mesas de tablones son asientos, otros con sombra y reposeras, y una zona que tiene parrillas para hacer asado (esas tienen un valor aparte).

La entrada tiene un valor de $360 para adultos y $300 para niños de 3 a 10 años. Hay promos para residentes, y Pases por Temporada si quieren ir más de una vez. El valor incluye el estacionamiento dentro del predio, con sombra generalmente,

Nosotros somos como 15 cada vez que vamos y llevamos nuestra propia comida, generalmente sandwichitos, fruta, bebidas y mate. Dentro del predio hay un gran restaurante, y varios puestos de comida para el que no quiera llevarla. Empanadas, Panchos, sandwiches, helados, papas fritas... de todo y para todos los gustos. 

La verdad es que nunca nos faltó nada, pero siempre alguien se queda cerca de donde dejamos todas nuestras cosas. Ese es también un tema si son sólo dos por ejemplo, hay que ir acarreando todo todo el tiempo. Ó te hacés amigo de tus vecinos de mesa y les pedís que te miren las cosas un rato, como en la playa.

TIPS para tener en cuenta:

-Para tirarse piden que no tengan cadenitas, ni nada en la mano. Osea, sin ojotas, ni nada para los pies, ni celular, ni cámaras. 

-Como para cada juego algo de cola hay que hacer, a veces al rayo del sol, protector, mucho protector porque se va con el agua.

-Los caminos que unen los juegos son de baldosas, pero llega un momento del día que quema. Es que no queda otra que andar descalzo para poder tirarse tranquilo. Algunos dejan las ojotas abajo y a la vuelta pasan a buscarlas. La otra es ir con un acompañante que sostenga los bártulos mientras uno se tira. 

-Hay baños limpios y cuidados en varios sitios, pero ahí sí hay que ir calzado.

Aquopolis

Every summer we go a few days to the Argentine's Coast, more precisely to Playa Chapadmalal; and beyond that we enjoy the beach, the sand and the sea; invariably we will spend a full day at Aquopolis.

This place is halfway between Chapadmalal and Mar del Plata, leaving Edison Avenue about 4 kilometers from the city; in front of Camping El Griego.

It is a huge property, very well landscaped and well cared for. Since its opening every year that passes are incorporating more slides and games for all ages.

There are two areas of small pools with slides and little water games for children, a type Pirate Ship that the little ones love. The other, larger with aquatic animals and a large bucket that cools older and children alike.

The slides that are higher have height restrictions that the supervising employees comply with. Some are for throwing themselves, and others more "light" are gomones of two. The Wave for example is short and very fun to shoot an adult and a child.

The only bad thing about the highest slides is that you have to climb the ladder, and each one has its own gomón or float. On high season days the place is full and the queues to get the inflatables are long.

For the most audacious there are slides that cut the breath. The Poseidon, or the Capsules are for the bold. The heights are impressive and you have to get up there to jump.

In all the slides there are employees who supervise that the corresponding height is met to be thrown, and that it is known to swim in those that are necessary because they have a pool at the end of the route (as in the Typhoon).

There are several picnic areas. Plank tables are seats, others with shade and chairs, and an area that has barbecue grills (those have a separate value).

Admission is $ 360 for adults and $ 300 for children ages 3 to 10. There are promos for residents, and Passes for Season if they want to go more than once. The value includes parking within the premises, with shade generally,

We are about 15 each time we go and bring our own food, usually sandwiches, fruit, drinks and mate. Inside the property there is a large restaurant, and several food stalls for those who do not want to take it. Empanadas, Panchos, sandwiches, ice creams, French fries ... of everything and for all tastes.

The truth is that we never missed anything, but always someone stays close to where we left all our things. That is also a subject if there are only two for example, you have to carry everything all the time. TIPS to keep in mind:

- To throw themselves they ask that they do not have chains, or anything in the hand. I mean, without flip flops, or anything for the feet, or cell phone, or cameras.

-As for each game, some tail has to be made, sometimes in the sun, protective, very protective because it goes with the water.

-The roads that join the games are tiled, but there comes a time of the day that burns. Is that there is no other than walking barefoot to be able to throw yourself quiet. Some leave the ojotas down and turn around to look for them. The other is to go with a companion who holds the gear while you throw yourself.

-There are clean bathrooms and cared in several places, but there you have to go footwear.

Villa General Belgrano, la perla del Valle/Villa General Belgrano, the Valley's Pearl

Un día que amaneció lluvioso decidimos ir hasta el pueblo más grande la zona: Villa General Belgrano. Es una localidad conocida por su belleza y pintorescas casas. Residencia de refugiados centro-europeos, toda la zona tiene un aire suizo muy similar también a San Martín de los Andes, en la Patagonia.

Llegamos pasado el mediodía y encontramos que la mayoría de los locales estaba cerrado; a pesar de ser temporada alta, se respeta la hora de siesta, sobre todo en días de lluvia. Al llegar dejó de llover, por lo que dejamos el auto en los alrededores del centro y comenzamos a caminar. Toda una zona del centro se había quedado sin electricidad también, así que algunos bares sólo servían bebidas frías.

Paramos a tomar un helado y dimos una vuelta mientras esperábamos que abrieran los locales. El centro es muy pintoresco, todos los locales hechos en madera, las publicidades y muchas artesanías. Localizamos una panadería de la que nos habían hablado "Dresdner", una de las más antiguas de la zona donde venden el tradicional Stollen (pan alemán, similar a nuestro Pan Dulce)...

Por suerte a la tardecita terminó por salir el sol y subió la temperatura, así que nos sentamos afuera de una Cervecería #Gambanus, a disfrutar de una Cerveza Artesanal y una súper picada tradicional...

Después de estar tantos días en la zona de Intiyaco estar en la Villa es como llegar a la Gran Ciudad... en plena temporada hay muchos turistas paseando y comprando. 

Pensé en un momento si me autotrasladaba allí sin saber qué localidad era, podría haber pensado que estaba en Villa La Angostura ó San Martín de los Andes...provincia de Neuquén... la única diferencia es la temperatura.

Infaltable, nos detuvimos a comprar unas remeras para los niños con el recuerdo de la Villa; alfajores para la familia (#Estancia El Rosario), y artesanías locales para llevar...

Tips de Viaje:

-Recordar que los locales comerciales abren usualmente después de las 5 de la tarde.

-Si se está por la zona, aprovechar que allí hay Cajeros Automáticos para hacerse de efectivo por cualquier urgencia.

-La ciudad parece muy segura y tranquila, igualmente nunca hay que perder de vista a los pequeños porque como ya dije hay muchos autos y turistas.

A day that dawned rainy we decided to go to the largest town in the area: Villa General Belgrano. It is a town known for its beauty and picturesque houses. Residence of Central European refugees, the whole area has a Swiss air very similar to San Martin de los Andes, in Patagonia.

We arrived past noon and found that most of the premises were closed; Despite being a busy season, siesta time is respected, especially on rainy days. When it arrived it stopped raining, so we left the car around the center and started walking. A whole downtown area had run out of electricity too, so some bars only served cold drinks.

We stopped for an ice cream and took a walk while we waited for the shops to open. The center is very picturesque, all the premises made of wood, advertising and many crafts. We located a bakery of which we had spoken "Dresdner", one of the oldest in the area where they sell the traditional Stollen (German bread, similar to our Sweet Bread) ...

Luckily in the afternoon the sun came up and the temperature went up, so we sat outside a #Gambanus Brewery, enjoying a Craft Beer and a traditional super-bite ...

After spending so many days in the Intiyaco area, being in the Villa is like arriving at the Great City ... in full season there are many tourists walking and shopping.

I thought at one point if I was self-driving there without knowing what location it was, I could have thought it was in Villa La Angostura or San Martin de los Andes ... province of Neuquén ... the only difference is temperature.

Unmissable, we stopped to buy some t-shirts for the children with the memory of the Villa; alfajores for the family (#Estancia El Rosario), and local handicrafts to take ...

Travel Tips:

-Remind that commercial premises usually open after 5 pm.

-If you are in the area, take advantage of there ATMs to get cash for any emergency.

-The city seems very safe and quiet, likewise you never have to lose sight of the little ones because as I said there are many cars and tourists.

Valle de Calamuchita con Niños/Calamuchita Valley with Children

Seguimos recorriendo el Valle y una tarde que estaba nublado salimos a recorrer. Todo queda relativamente cerca, aunque los caminos internos de ripio suelen ser empinados y con mucha curva. Así es el camino para llegar a #Las Cañitas, un lugar que parece salido de un cuento. No había gente, un bosque tranquilo que termina a la orilla del río. Pequeñas cerros que invitan a quedarse toda la tarde disfrutando del paisaje, la paz y tranquilidad. No tuvimos mucha suerte porque se largó a llover fuerte, así que tuvimos que regresar corriendo a los autos! 

#Villa Berna es otro pueblito de ensueño. Amplios jardines, caminos de tierra para caminar, vistas hermosas. 

Un día salimos más temprano y fuimos a pasar el día a #Villa Alpina. Hablando de caminos complicados, éste es el peor por que se sube mucho, entre curva y contracurva. Tardamos unos 40 minutos aprox en llegar, desde #Intiyaco.

Villa Alpina es muy pequeño, y se llega con el auto hasta un puente colgante sobre el río por el cual no se puede seguir avanzando más. (En auto). Nosotros varamos allí, a la orilla del río donde hay pozones y playitas, el agua está relativamente templada. Sobre la orilla estaba repleto de plantas de zarzamoras, así que es un buen entretenimiento para los niños cosechar esta fruta riquísima (a la noche hice un dulce para chuparse los dedos). Hay que tener cuidado que no se pinchen únicamente.

We continued touring the Valley and one cloudy afternoon we went to visit. Everything is relatively close, although the internal gravel roads are usually steep and with a lot of curve. This is the way to get to #Las Cañitas, a place that seems to come from a story. There were no people, a quiet forest that ends at the edge of the river. Small hills that invite you to stay all afternoon enjoying the landscape, peace and tranquility. We did not have much luck because it started to rain hard, so we had to run back to the cars!

#Villa Berna is another dream village. Wide gardens, dirt roads to walk, beautiful views.

One day we left earlier and went to spend the day at #Villa Alpina. Speaking of complicated roads, this is the worst because it goes up a lot, between curve and countercurve. It took us about 40 minutes to get there, from #Intiyaco.

Villa Alpina is very small, and you can get there by car until you reach a suspension bridge over the river, through which you can not go further. (By car). We go there, on the riverbank where there are pools and small beaches, the water is relatively warm. On the shore was full of blackberry plants, so it is a good entertainment for children to harvest this delicious fruit (at night I made a sweet to suck your fingers). Be careful not to prick only.

Córdoba, Verano, Niños.../Cordoba, Summer, Children...

El verano pasado decidimos viajar a Córdoba, en Enero. Iba también mi hermana con amigos, así que era un buen plan para pasar unos días. 

Reservamos una casita cerca del río, en Intiyaco. Toda la zona es divina: El Valle de Calamuchita tiene rincones y pueblitos como para quedarse un mes...

Recalamos en #Intiyaco por su tranquilidad y posibilidades de pasear a pie. Es más que un pueblo una zona, no hay más que un par de despensas y muchas cabañas  para alquilar.

El viaje en auto es largo pero no totalmente agotador. Atravesando Capital Federal llegás rápido a la autopista, pasando por Rosario y hasta muy cerca de #Córdoba ciudad, y ahí tomás una bifurcación para #Alta Gracia; donde paramos en un súper a abastecernos de víveres. Desde Alta Gracia hasta #Intiyaco el camino es sinuoso, subidas, bajadas y mucho tránsito, por lo que se hizo un poco cansador. Pero al llegar a la casa y ver los alrededores se te pasa todo el cansancio. Hay varios recodos del río donde se forman playitas. Lo ideal es llevar tu propia silla porque no hay muucha arena.

Plantas de zarzamoras para ir comiendo en las caminatas, retamas, rosas, bosquecitos, mucho verde y naturaleza, ideal para descansar y desconectarse. Los niños felices en el río, con el cual siempre hay que estar atentos por las correntadas y las crecidas. 

Una tarde que no hacía especialmente calor fuimos a pasear, agarramos el auto y llegamos a #La Cumbrecita. Al ser un pueblo peatonal hay que dejar el auto sí ó sí en la entrada, y recorrer caminando. Realmente dan ganas de quedarse a vivir. Con aires suizos, la gente es amable, los recorridos amenos y la tranquilidad de saber que no hay autos ni motos se siente. 

Paramos a merendar en una casa de té diviina, que está alejada del centro, en el camino a la Cascada Grande (que no llegamos porque los niños ya estaban cansados de caminar), #Los Cuatro Vientos. Comidas típicas centroeuropeas, y unos licuados gigantes riquísimos que a la más pequeña le costó terminar.

TIPS de Viaje:

-Se puede hacer el viaje en auto de un solo tirón saliendo bien temprano (aprovechando que los niños duermen y se atraviesa Capital Federal a un horario no pico)

-Los caminos en el Valle de Calamuchita con la mayoría sinuosos, hay que estar atentos a los mareos de los más pequeños.

- La Cumbrecita es un pueblo peatonal ideal para recorrerla en todo el día, muchos senderos y paseos.

-Siempre hay que estar atentos a las crecidas intempestivas de los ríos. Cuando se ve tormenta en el horizonte, hay que salir del río, rápido.


Last summer we decided to travel to Córdoba, in January. My sister was also with friends, so it was a good plan to spend a few days.
We booked a cottage near the river, in Intiyaco. The whole area is divine: The Calamuchita Valley has nooks and small towns to stay a month ...
We rebook in #Intiyaco for its tranquility and possibilities to walk on foot. It is more than a town; One area, there is no more than a couple of pantries and many cabins to rent.

The trip by car is long but not totally exhausting. Crossing the Federal Capital, you quickly reach the highway, passing through Rosario and even very close to # Córdoba city, and there you take a fork for #Alta Gracia; where we stopped at a supermarket to stock up on groceries. From Alta Gracia to #Intiyaco the road is winding, uphill, downhill and a lot of traffic, so it became a little tiring. But when you get to the house and see the surroundings you lose all your tiredness. There are several bends of the river where little beaches are formed. The ideal is to bring your own chair because there is no sand.
Blackberry plants to go eating in the walks, broom, roses, forests, lots of green and nature, ideal to rest and disconnect. The happy children in the river, with which you always have to be attentive to the floods.
One afternoon, when it was not particularly hot, we went for a tour, got the car and arrived at #La Cumbrecita. Being a pedestrian town; you have to leave the car at the entrance, and go walking. They really make you want to stay and live. With Swiss airs, the people are friendly, the routes pleasant and the tranquility of knowing that no cars or motorcycles are felt.
We stopped for a snack in a beatiful tea house , which is far from downtown, on the way to Cascada Grande (which we did not arrive because the children were already tired of walking), # Los Cuatro Vientos. Typical Central European meals, and some delicious giant smoothies that the smallest one cost him to finish.

Travel TIPS:
-You can make the trip by car with a single pull, leaving very early (taking advantage of the fact that the children sleep and cross the Federal Capital at a non-peak time)
-The roads in the Valley of Calamuchita with the most sinuous, we must be alert to dizziness of the smallest.
- La Cumbrecita is an ideal pedestrian village to cross it all day, many trails and walks.

-One must always be alert to untimely flooding of rivers. When you see a storm on the horizon, you have to get out of the river, fast.

Colonia Segundo y último día/Colonia Second and last day

Luego de un sueño reparador y desayuno opíparo en el hotel #Dazzler Colonia; salimos a pasear en el carrito. Encaramos para la zona más alejada del Casco Histórico, y fuimos a la Plaza de Toros antigua. Está cerrada y no se puede entrar (se supone que en algún momento la repararán), pero sí visitamos el Museo del Ferrocarril que está enfrente y es muy simpático. La entrada cuesta 3 dólares, y está abierto desde las 10 de la mañana hasta las 18 hs. Niños menores de 10 años no pagan.

Un guía te va a explicando la historia de los trenes en Uruguay a principios del siglo pasado, como así también la de la Plaza de Toros Real de San Carlos; que la historia es más reciente. La Sala de Espera y donde se compraban los tickets está muy bien conservado y es educativo para los niños. Los vagones también están muy bien recreados y se pueden visitar. Uno de ellos está acondicionado y es Cafetería y Casa de té.

Luego de recorrerlo y sacar fotos nos subimos nuevamente al carrito y fuimos a pasear por la Costanera a las playas que los lugareños llaman urbanas, por la Rambla de las Américas hasta el final del recorrido que termina en el hotel Sheraton Colonia Golf & Spa. Todo el recorrido es muy lindo, con caserones impresionantes mirando al río. 

Regresamos y recalamos en la playa Real de San Carlos, donde hay un local que vende artesanías. No hay instalaciones como para sentarse a almorzar. Nosotros como es costumbre; llevamos para hacer mate y algo para picar. Los niños se metieron en el río (hacía muucho calor) y no había mucha gente en la playa.

Regresamos al centro de Colonia a almorzar, paramos en una esquina muy pintoresca y que tenía mesas afuera, #Punta Piedra. El lugar estaba repleto pero nos atendieron rápido. Las porciones muy abundantes, por lo que a los niños les pedimos un Revuelto Gramajo para los dos que les encantó.

Ya habíamos pensado que queríamos hacer las famosas fotos antiguas en las que te disfrazan a la usanza y sacan fotos en sepia, así que ni bien terminamos de almorzar nos cruzamos a jugar un rato, el lugar se llama #El Túnel del Ayer. Muy bien atendido, no es barato, pero es el gusto del viaje! Los nenes pueden elegir cómo vestirse, qué tipo de vestido ó traje; salvo por el calor que hacía fue muy divertido! Y el resultado final un recuerdo imperdible.

Como se nos hacía tarde volvimos rápidamente a devolver el carrito (el local queda enfrente al Puerto). Y llegamos justo a tiempo para hacer tooodos los trámites de regreso y tomarnos el Eladia Isabel que esta vez iba repleto, pero se podía salir a cubierta, así que allí disfrutamos del atardecer y las vistas de Buenos Aires nocturno desde el Barco.

TIPS viajeros:

-Tren del Ferrocarril: entretenido y educativo para los niños. Visita corta de una hora, máximo.

-Imperdible de Colonia las Fotos antiguas #El Túnel del Ayer

-Si quieren hacer compras en el Free Shop del Barco, siempre es preferible a la vuelta...supuestamente. Había mucha, mucha gente, sin aire acondicionado fue casi una tortura hacer la cola para pagar, máxime que no se podía circular de la gente que había para ver los productos....Quizás si son perfumes ó cremas... mejor comprarlos a la ida que es más tranqui que un domingo a la noche...


After a restful sleep and a very good breakfast at the #Dazzler Colonia hotel; We went for a tour in the cart. We walked to the area farthest from the Historic District, and went to the old Plaza de Toros. It is closed and can not be entered (it is assumed that at some point they will repair it), but we do visit the Railway Museum opposite and it's very nice. The entrance costs 3 dollars, and is open from 10 am in the morning until 6 pm. Children under 10 years old do not pay.
A guide will explain the history of trains in Uruguay at the beginning of the last century, as well as that of the Royal Bullring of San Carlos; that the story is more recent. The waiting room and where the tickets were bought is very well preserved and is educational for the children. The wagons are also very well recreated and can be visited. One of them is conditioned and is Cafeteria and Tea House.
After touring and taking pictures we went back to the cart and went for a walk along the Costanera to the beaches that the locals call urban, along the Rambla de las Américas until the end of the tour that ends at the Sheraton Colonia Golf & Spa hotel. The whole tour is very nice, with impressive houses overlooking the river.
We return and stop at the Real de San Carlos beach, where there is a shop selling handicrafts. There are no facilities to sit down for lunch. Us as usual; We take to make mate and something to snack on. The children got into the river (it was very hot) and there were not many people on the beach.
We returned to the center of Colonia to have lunch, we stopped at a very picturesque corner and had tables outside, #Punta Piedra. The place was full, but we were attended quickly. The portions are very plentiful, so we asked the children for Scrambled Gramajo for the two that they loved.

We had already thought that we wanted to make the famous old photos in which they disguise you in the style and take pictures in sepia, so as soon as we finished having lunch, we crossed to play for a while, the place is called #El Túnel del Ayer. Very well attended, it's not cheap, but it's the pleasure of the trip! Children can choose how to dress, what kind of dress or suit; Except for the heat, it was very fun! And the final result an unforgettable memory.



As we were late; we quickly returned the cart (the place is opposite the Port). And we arrived just in time to do all the steps back, and take the Eladia Isabel that this time was full, but you could go on deck, so we enjoyed the sunset and the views of Buenos Aires from the ship.

-If you want to shop in the Free Shop of the Ship, it is always preferable to return ... supposedly. There were many, many people, without air conditioning it was almost a torture to wait in line to pay, especially if you could not get around the people who had to see the products .... Maybe if they are perfumes or creams ... better buy them at the one that is quieter than a Sunday night ...

Colonia en dos días/Two days in Cologne

En Febrero de este año nos escapamos dos días a Colonia; los cuatro integrantes de la familia.

Ya se sabe que Colonia es para recorrerla caminando y disfrutando su paz y tranquilidad. Hete aquí que mi hijo mayor unas semanas antes se rompió un dedito del pie y tenía que andar con una bota (walker) puesta tooodo el día. Cuando me dí cuenta que iba a estar complicada la caminata, decidí averiguar alquilar bicis ó algo parecido para recorrerla

Había sacado los pasajes por #Buquebus por Internet y con tarjeta, muy práctico y sencillo. 
El hotel lo reservé con mucho tiempo por #Booking; el #Dazzler Colonia que acababa de inaugurarse hacía muy poco.

Así que me metí en páginas de Colonia para averiguar qué podíamos alquilar para no caminar tanto, resultó que las bicis eran tipo Mountain Bike, (yo quería tipo inglesa para llevar a la más pequeña atrás); hasta que me topé con una página que alquilaban Carritos como los de Golf, eléctricos. Me pareció una idea genial y lo reservé también a través de la Web.

Así que un domingo de Febrero de Carnaval arrancamos al Puerto. Dejamos el auto en las inmediaciones, donde no se paga estacionamiento ni nada. El barco salía temprano a las 8.15 de la mañana. Migraciones se hace rápido, llevando los DNI actualizados de los cuatro y las partidas de nacimiento de los niños no tuvimos ningún problema (no tenemos Libreta de Matrimonio pero al ser los dos hijos de los mismos padres...no problem)

El viaje en el Atlantic III fue rápido, tarda 1 hora y pico en cruzar el charco. Da tiempo de ir al Free Shopp y pasear un poco. No se puede salir (porque no tiene) a cubierta pero se pasa rápido. Una vez en Colonia también hay que hacer cola para ingresar; y a pesar de ser Fin de Semana Largo; fue bastante ágil.

El carrito de Golf lo alquilamos por 24 hs, por lo que había quedado que lo iba a buscar esa tarde tipo 18 hs. Mi hijo mayor podía caminar un poco con la bota, así que el primer recorrido lo hicimos caminando. 

En realidad lo primero que hicimos fue sentarnos a desayunar como la gente porque estábamos famélicos. Bajamos hasta el Barrio Histórico caminando por la calle Manuel Lobo.  Alrededor de la Plaza de Armas hay varios cafés y restaurantes muy pintorescos. Como en todo Uruguay, la gente muy amable y cortés.
Luego del desayuno recorrimos el Casco Histórico, el Faro, el Portal y la Muralla...todo muy interesante y educativo. Empezaba a hacer calor así que tratábamos de encontrar caminos a la sombra porque la temperatura subía cada vez más.

El Hotel #Dazzler Colonia

Al mediodía nos tomamos un taxi para ir al hotel, ya que el Check In era a partir del las 2 PM. El hotel queda alejado del Centro Histórico pero sobre el Río, con una vista espectacular. Por suerte estaban las habitaciones listas (Dos suites gigaantes, lo único que no estaban conectadas; mala mía que me olvidé de solicitarlo en la reserva) pero estaban en el mismo piso. El #Dazzler tiene una pileta adelante con vista al río también en la que nos fuimos a lanzar en cuanto nos cambiamos. Harían unos 30°, por lo que era sumamente necesario. 

Nos quedamos en el Hotel en la pile hasta que a las 6pm fuimos a buscar el carrito de Golf que habíamos reservado. 

Así que cambiados y bañados volvimos al Centro Histórico en el Carrito que va a 20 km por hora a cenar.

Al ser Fin de Semana Largo estaban todos los Restaurantes llenos, a pesar de que salimos temprano. Finalmente conseguimos en la Plaza al aire libre, por suerte.

Antes de que nos trajeran la cena sucedió algo mágico....se cortó la luz en toda Colonia. Era una noche de verano tranquila, y todos los restaurantes tenían en sus mesas velitas, por lo que si te abstraías podías pensar que era una noche de principios del siglo pasado.

Tips del Viaje: 

- Para salir del país a otros del Mercosur con niños sólo se necesita: Si los padres están casados Libreta de Matrimonio y DNIs actualizados; si no están casados; DNIs actualizados y Certificado de Nacimiento.

-El auto se puede dejar en las inmediaciones del Puerto de Buquebús en fines de semana sin pagar estacionamiento. (a tres cuadras del lado del río).

-Si los niños son propensos a marearse, que no desayunen leche antes de subir al Barco, y si le dan Dramamine, mejor.

- En días de calor, agua, siempre botellitas de agua para poder aliviar el calor y la sed






In February of this year we escaped two days to Cologne; the four members of the family.
You already know that Colonia is to walk it and enjoy its peace and tranquility. It was here that my eldest son a few weeks before broke a toe of his foot and had to walk with a boot (walker) on all day. When I realized that the walk was going to be complicated, I decided to find out how to rent bikes or something similar to go around.
I had taken the tickets for #Buquebus online and with a card, very practical and simple.
I booked the hotel with a lot of time for #Booking; the #Dazzler Cologne that had just opened very recently.
So I got into pages in Cologne to find out what we could rent to avoid walking so much, it turned out that the bikes were Mountain Bike type, (I wanted English type to take the smallest one back); until I stumbled upon a page that Carritos rented like Golf, electric. I thought it was a great idea and I booked it through the Web as well.
So one Sunday in February of Carnival we started at the Port. We leave the car in the vicinity, where parking is not paid or anything. The ship left early at 8.15 in the morning. Migrations are done quickly, carrying the updated DNIs of the four and the birth certificates of the children did not have any problems (we do not have a marriage book but being the two children of the same parents ... no problem)

 The trip on the Atlantic III was quick, it takes 1 hour and a half to cross the pond. Give time to go to Free Shopp and walk a little. You can not leave (because you do not have) to cover but you pass quickly. Once in Cologne you also have to queue to enter; and despite being Long Weekend; It was quite agile.
The golf cart we rent for 24 hours, so it was that I was going to find that afternoon type 18 hours. My eldest son could walk a little with his boot, so the first tour we did walking.
Actually the first thing we did was sit down to breakfast like people because we were starving. We go down to the Historical Quarter walking down Manuel Lobo street. Around the Plaza de Armas there are several very picturesque cafes and restaurants. As in all of Uruguay, the people are very kind and courteous.
After breakfast we went through the Historical Quarter, the Lighthouse, the Portal and the Wall ... all very interesting and educational. It was getting hot so we tried to find paths in the shade because the temperature rose more and more.



At noon we took a taxi to go to the hotel, since Check In was from 2 PM. The hotel is far from the Historic Center but on the River, with a spectacular view. Luckily the rooms were ready (Two giants suites, the only thing was that were not connected, my bad that I forgot to request it in the reservation) but they were on the same floor. The #Dazzler has a pool ahead with a view to the river also in which we went to launch as soon as we changed. They would do about 30 °, so it was very necessary.
We stayed at the hotel in the pile until at 6pm we went to find the golf cart we had booked.
So changed and bathed back to the Historic Center in the Cart that goes 20 km per hour to dinner.
Being Long Weekend was all the restaurants full, although we left early. We finally got to the outdoor plaza, thankfully.
Something magical happened before they brought us dinner ... the light was cut off in all of Cologne. It was a quiet summer night, and all the restaurants had candles on their tables, so if you were thinking you could think it was a night of the beginning of the last century.

Travel Tips:
- To leave the country to other Mercosur Country with children only needed: If the parents are married Marriage Notebook and updated DNIs; if they are not married; Updated DNIs and Birth Certificate.
-The car can be left in the vicinity of the Port of Buquebús on weekends without paying parking. (three blocks from the river side).
-If children are prone to dizziness, that they do not eat milk before going to the boat, and if they give Dramamine, the better.

- On hot days, water, always bottles of water to relieve heat and thirst
